Mages really got something when they are with good spellcasting. If you are determined to play the game with a certain race character then the choice of allegiance is predetermined by Blizzard Entertainment. If you have your mind set on gaming with either the Human, Gnome or Draenei race character then you will need to be a part of the Alliance faction. On the other hand if you want to role play as a Troll, Blood Elf or Undead then the Horde side it is.

In the early stages of leveling it is a good idea to avoid situations where you need plenty of protection or great Melee skills, as your only means of protective armor is armor made from cloth material.
